FUN FACTS:

Hypersthene is belongs to the orthorhombic pyroxene mineral group alongside Bronzite. Sometimes called "Velvet Labradorite," this is a misnomer; Although hypersthene IS found on Labrador, it is NOT a labradorite.

Instead, hypersthene flashes (called "schiller") are produced by the separation of iron impurities in fine films. These layers of iron cause a metallic flash (and not light interference, like in labradorite).
